Official Farm Town Guide

Well I just found a very detailed spreadsheet put out by the makers of Farm Town making my work, while mildly entertaining, a complete waste of time. Had their website come up in the top 20 results when I googled Farm Town this blog would have never been, but anyways:

Farm Town Data Sheet
Contains costs, profits, experience gains, etc for all items in the game.

I may be posting up any other little tricks/glitches/hacks that are found/developed, I've been meaning to post a tutorial on how to harvest, plant, and plow faster using the glitch where your character doesn't move, but otherwise I don't see much of a reason for updating this blog. I'll probably keep tabs on it every once in a while though, good day.

6 More Helpful Tips Including Trophies

It looks like the prices of Peppers and Pineapples have changed, my chart is already updated and it doesn't seem to change the ranking of Peppers (Pineapples still unknown). Anyhow, here's 6 more little tips:

1. The bonus for having someone else harvest your crops is actually 20% even though the game tells you it's 25%.

2. You need the Popular Neighbour (5 neighbours) trophy to sell gifts.

3. You need the Influential Neighbour trophy (8 neighbours) to sell items bought from the store.

4. You need the Acclaimed Neighbour trophy (10 neighbours) to hire someone to plow for you.

5. To change your appearance, click on your character and select the "Change appearance" option from the drop down menu.

6. To change your gender (I've found some kids more willingly hire females) use the account tab.

Computer Issues

I've recently had to reformat my computer and have yet to reinstall most of the software I use, noticably Microsoft Office and the Adobe Creative Suite 3. The physical copies of a lot of this software is not with me at the moment and until I go home from school for a night or two I won't be able to post up images, screenshots, excel charts, or any other multimedia aids. These will hopefully be available soon however so keep an eye out.

6 Helpful Tips

Here's some random facts about Farm Town that aren't neccessarily obvious to the casual player.

1. Each "day" in Farm Town lasts only 20 hours. That means, your 4-day Pumpkin patches will be ready after 80 hours, not 96.

2. Crops will last as long as they took to grow before going to waste.

3. If you click the wrench tool at the top right of the game you can disable the space between crops giving you more room to plant more crops, making more money.

4. If you click the wrench tool at the top right of the game you can stop the screen from following your character (avatar). I find this preferable as it lets you plant crops from farther away without the screen jumping back to where you are.

5. You earn 6 XP for tending a neighbours farm. You can earn up to a maximum of 50 XP (9 visits) this way in 24 hours, after that you only earn 1 XP each time until the clock resets.

6. When harvesting for someone else you receive 25% of the coins earned by the crops you harvest.

Leave any other helpful tips in the comments!

Increase Computer Preformance

There are a variety of ways to increase your computer's preformance when playing Farmtown, here are some of the easiest:

1. Hide the trees, buildings, and flowers. Click the wrench on the top right corner and uncheck the "Show Trees," "Show Buildings," and "Show Flowers" buttons. The fewer images that have to load, the faster the screen will load.

2. Lower the graphics quality using the flash menu. To do this, right click on Farmtown, mouse-over the word Quality, then select either Low or Medium.

3. If all else fails, you may be able to increase preformance by using the fullscreen mode. It's a little buggy but most people have claimed that the game runs faster in fullscreen mode.

4. Turning off the music and sound will help.

If anyone has more ideas or tweaks feel free to leave a comment.

Price Charts - Work In Progress

I'm working on price charts for the different crops in Farmtown, I don't know the cost of blueberries or pineapples but here's the list of crops in terms of profit/time. The number in parenthesis is the number of days (days in FarmTown are 20-hour periods) that the crops take to grow.

1 Raspberry (0.1)
2 Grape (0.2)
3 Pepper (2)
4 Carrot (2)
5 Onions (3)
6 Cabbage (1)
7 Peas (2)
8 Rice (2)
9 Potato (1)
10 Corn (3)
11 Watermelon (1)
12 Pumpkin (4)
13 Strawberry (1)
14 Wheat (2)
15 Coffee (3)
16 Cotton (4)
17 Tomato (2)
18 Sunflower (3)
?? Blueberry (3)
?? Pineapple (3)

NOTE: this order is based on you harvesting/replanting quickly and effeciently. You may not make as much money on one-day crops if it takes you 5-6 hours after they finish to replant. If you know you'll be back in 3 days (60 hours) plant Onions... they don't theoretically make as much money/day as pepper but if you harvest them quickly you'll make more than you would have.

I have a full chart of profit/times for crops based on the different costs of plowing (10, 15, or 20 coins), including the actual exact coins/day you make in profit for each specific crop and am going to publish it for public use once it's completed. I need the prices of Blueberries and Pineapples, if you are a high enough level to plant them please either leave a comment with the price of planting or send me an e-mail at farmtownblog@gmail.com
